ESSAYS

1) The title of this essay is Gifts, by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

2) The approach used in this essay was a surprising or provocative.

3) IT is said that the world is in a state of bankruptcy, that the world owes the world more than the world can pay, and ought to go into chancery, and be sold.

4) I believe that the introductory statement was effective. Although a little difficult to follow, because it was in a poem style type of writing. Some people including myself find this style of writing intriguing. You can tell that this is a recent essay because it is talking about the debt that the people are in today.

5) For the conclusion i feel the author chose a "call to action" style, because the author is rounding the point that we don't have to get gifts to feel good about ourselves. A direct quote that i liked was "They eat your service like apples, and leave you out". From this phrase i understood that services will take your money proudly, but in the end you will have the debt!
